As a wholesaler, NSU is responsible for making sure surplus lines filings are done accurately, timely and that all taxes are paid. We have invested in a full-time Compliance staff and will make all Surplus Lines filings.

Due Diligence to place coverage with an admitted insurer must be made prior to approaching non-admitted markets. Surplus lines insurers may not compete directly with licensed insurers for business and should only write business that licensed insurers will not write. Coverage placed with a non-admitted carrier requires prompt state tax filings and state-mandated surplus lines disclosure wording on the binder, policies, endorsements, audits, cancellations and reinstatements.
